Teaching for Mastery

The Teaching for Mastery Programme is a professional development opportunity designed to support teachers like you to develop best practice in maths in your school.
The starting point for all schools is Teaching for Mastery - Introductory. It is suitable for schools interested in implementing a teaching for mastery approach. This two-year programme is designed for primary schools that are new to teaching for mastery and want to build a strong foundation for long-term change.
For schools already on their Teaching for Mastery journey, they continue  working with a small group of local schools, supported by a Mastery Specialist. Across the year, participants will collaborate to explore effective leadership, observe live teaching for mastery, implement aspects such as lesson design, and refine systems to maximise pupil impact; all with the aim of delivering long-term, sustained change across your school and others.

We ask all schools already on their TfM pathways to recommit for the next academic year in the summer term.

If you are already engaged in a TfM Work Group we will contact you via email and during your last Work Group about the next academic year.

Our aim

The core purpose of the hub is to help schools and colleges lead improvement in mathematics education across the region. We seek to harness all the maths leadership and expertise within the area, to develop and spread excellent practice, for the benefit of all pupils and students.
