Higher Level Maths Achievement Programme

Higher Level Maths Achievement Programme (HLMAP) is a new programme offering a collaboration between the AMSP, Maths Hubs and the NCETM. It is designed to support schools with a high proportion of students from disadvantaged backgrounds with high KS2 attainment, so they achieve grades 7-9 at GCSE Maths.

Higher-level Maths Achievement Work Group

Participant information
This Work Group is for teachers from eligible schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged students. The Work Group provides professional development to support participant teachers to engage with the wider Higher-level Maths Achievement Programme, which includes classroom resources and student study days.

Participants will explore effective pedagogical
approaches which enable all students to access and deeply understand the most challenging content at Key Stage 4, with a particular focus on ensuring students with high prior attainment at KS2 achieve grades 7-9 at GCSE. Participants will be expected, where appropriate, to work with colleagues in their own department to refine their practice, and to enable students to attend the study days.

Higher-level Maths Achievement - Embedding the Impact Community

Participant teachers will work collaboratively a part of an online community and work with CODE Maths Hub. They will continue to explore the classroom materials and support colleagues to embed these in their practice where appropriate. They will continue to engage in the wider Higher-level Maths Achievement Programme, and attend study days with their students.

This community is only open to all schools who participated in the 2025/26 Higher-level Maths Achievement Programme.

Our aim

The core purpose of the hub is to help schools and colleges lead improvement in mathematics education across the region. We seek to harness all the maths leadership and expertise within the area, to develop and spread excellent practice, for the benefit of all pupils and students.
